Training Course
TechLaw’s technical aptitude is relied upon for training others. We have developed and provided numerous human health and ecological risk assessment training courses for multiple EPA regions, including comparative exercises that contrast the federal, regional, and state program approaches.
Incinerator Sites

TechLaw’s abilities are highly recognized in the risk assessment field. We have performed numerous human health and ecological risk assessments at incinerator sites around Chicago. This has included assessment of surface and subsurface soil; surface water; groundwater; sediments; air; produce and other foods; radionuclides; and fauna.

In addition, TechLaw was selected by EPA to oversee the national external peer review of EPA’s Human Health Risk Assessment Protocol for Hazardous Waste Combustion Facilities. The manager of our Toxicology and Risk Assessment Group was selected to Chair this expert review panel in a two-day public comment session held in Dallas, in May 2000.

Site Specific Experience

TechLaw has provided support in the risk assessment arena on hundreds of sites. At one site, we assisted EPA with oversight of RCRA Corrective Action at the facility; this included characterization of the nature and extent of contamination, as well as remediation activities. We performed senior technical risk assessment oversight on behalf of EPA, while paying special attention to residential receptors and the impact of PCB releases into the Housatonic River and surrounding environs on the ecological habitat.

At another site, TechLaw performed an ecological risk assessment and baseline human health review. This included assessment of surface soil, subsurface soil, groundwater, surface water, sediments, produce, milk, beef, fish, and fauna.
