Glowing EPA Performance Evaluation

October/November, 2004

Region 3, TechLaw has once again earned an outstanding performance evaluation from EPA Region 3 on its Regional Oversight Contract (ROC) Region 3 contract. TechLaw's Technical, Schedule and Business Relations scores were all 4-out-of-5, with a score of 5-out-of-5 for cost control. This is the fourth consecutive year that TechLaw has received this set of ratings from EPA.

An EPA Deliverable of a Different Sort

September/October, 2004

Dallas, Texas, TechLaw's Mr. Wally O'Rear was commissioned by the EPA to create a large poster (59" by 96") for EPA's Region 6. The poster was to depict their Brownfields aggressiveness. This huge task had its obstacles, least of which was the creative process. Mr. O'Rear has created artwork and graphics for the EPA on other occasions, but a project this size comes with unique difficulties when it comes to printing and staying within budget. Though there were some compromises, Wally managed to keep the customer satisfied.

Initially, Mr. O'Rear explains, “I gave them [the local print shop] a printed [reference] image of the poster [and] they couldn’t come even close to a good color image (both contrast and color)."

This resulted in compromising down to a smaller poster size and a different print shop.

Mr. O'Rear attributes much of the problem to graphic file conversion. "When the vendor gets the [Windows] image they have to convert it to their Mac [platform] and that is where I believe the color problems occur" he explained.

Mr. O'Rear worked through the obstacles and confirms, "They got what they ask for...In the end they loved it."

TechLaw Pulls a September Hat Trick

September, 2004

Regions 3, 4, and 9; three EPA contracts come TechLaw’s way!

TechLaw, Inc. recently won the Superfund Enforcement Support (SES) Services Region 9 (Southwest) contract and the EPA Regional Oversight Contract (ROC) Region 3 (northern mid-Atlantic) contract. TechLaw is the prime contractor on these contracts.

TechLaw, Inc. recently won a third EPA contract also, but in the role of sub-contractor. It was the Enforcement Support Services (ESS) Region 4 (Southeast) contract awarded to Aarcher Inc. on Wednesday, September 29, 2004. TechLaw collaborated with Aarcher, Inc. Aarcher is dedicated to developing long-term, mutually beneficial strategic alliances with firms committed to quality and cost-effectiveness.

Aarcher announced October 1st, …TechLaw’s reputation, credentials, and proposal support was key to this win.

TechLaw Awarded Medals for Outstanding Service

September, 2004

Roswell, New Mexico; (paraphrased from a Gene Barber e-mail) Two of our staff members in Sacramento, Amy Romero and Cheryl Mahoney, were recognized in September by the U.S. Corps of Engineers Sacramento District for outstanding service on the Walker AFB project (Former Walker Air Force Base 1FUDS site). The 2NMED regulator wrote to Colonel Michael J. Conrad, Jr. and thanked the Sacramento District for expediting this project and performing a thorough evaluation of the site in lieu of other districts that had procrastinated for a number of years. FUDS program manager, Jerry Vincent, expressed his appreciation by including TechLaw staff and the rest of the project team in the recognition. Amy and Cheryl both received a very nice medal in a ceremony where the awards were presented by the Colonel. Over the years, TechLaw has routinely provided excellent support for our client, but this is the first time we were recognized!

In addition to Cheryl’s and Amy’s efforts, this huge project required significant efforts from many others; Amy Ballow, Michelle Lonsinger, Lisa Tyson, Bill Fear, Melissa Sauter, Josh Peterson, Amie Motsinger, Brandi Kirchhoff, Sam Hubbell, Karin Bernstein, Ken Schroeder, and Susan Pearson.

TechLaw senior staff consultant, Gene Barber, continues the praise by writing, "Specifically, this project could not have been completed to the extent it was without the efforts of Lisa Tyson, Bill Fear, and Michelle Lonsinger. Additionally, on the last two versions of the report we had the outstanding efforts of Kelly and Donna from Jay's group. As always Brandi and Sam put in a huge effort to get things done. I don't want to leave anyone out and appreciate everyone's incredible efforts. These reports are by far one of the largest production efforts we have had since the AFP 14 project and couldn't have been accomplished without a tremendous team effort. Thanks to all of you."
