Community Engagement and Environmental Justice        More information
TechLaw practices environmental consulting that meaningfully engages community stakeholders from the onset of a project. We provide a liaison between communities and government, seek opportunities for public input, and identify solutions to environmental justice issues that incorporate public participation and benefit communities. Our staff includes legal and environmental experts, a former EPA program manager, community organizers, and a social worker specializing in public policy. This diverse team allows TechLaw the unique approach of integrating public participation, environmental remediation and community self-determination, while keeping environmental, social, and economic justice at the forefront of our efforts.



Property Reuse for Public Benefit More information
TechLaw has the experience and skills to provide the environmental and strategic planning tools to assist in moving a contaminated property transaction through the environmental process to reuse and redevelopment for public benefit. We provide property redevelopment services such as public participation, environmental site histories and title searches, and land planning support in a comprehensive, cost-effective, and scientifically sound manner.
Facilitation and Meeting Support  More information
TechLaw staff members have facilitated and participated in numerous community conversations about the restoration of the urban environment as it relates to contaminated land reuse and Environmental Justice issues through the vehicles of expectation management and facilitated planning dialogues such as alternate dispute resolution, negotiation, public meetings, community events, public outreach, training, community mapping, community sampling, and public hearing sessions. These are approached with the goal of providing technical assistance and creating an informed dialogue around the concerns of numerous and diverse stakeholders.
Grant Writing             More information
Often, the first step in a Brownfields project is writing a grant application to secure funding. This step can be intimidating to organizations unfamiliar with the grant writing process. TechLaw has extensive experience in grant writing and funding opportunities for environmental services, including Brownfields assessments and restoration.

  • Assessing whether a property is a sound development opportunity
  • Assessing whether a property requires remediation
  • Coordinating/managing cleanup efforts at a property
  • Oversight of remedial activities
