TechLaw Selected to Support EPA in Expanding PFAS Investigations

$1.3 Million Task Order Bolsters EPA Push to Clean Up ‘Forever Chemicals’ at Government Locations

CHANTILLY, VA (Dec. 30, 2021) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded TechLaw a 6-year, $1.3 million task order to provide expert technical support to EPA in its growing effort to address PFAS contamination at multiple Federal Facilities nationwide.

The TechLaw Team will be led by toxicologists, hydrogeologists and senior scientists with extensive experience in PFAS investigation and remediation. EPA expects investigations to occur at several Federal Facility sites, such as current and former U.S. military locations where PFAS contamination has already been discovered or is suspected. The work will support EPA’s 10 regions across the country and the EPA Headquarters Federal Facilities Reuse and Restoration Office (FFRRO) in overseeing PFAS-related activities. The task order award was made under EPA’s Environmental Services and Operations contract.

“TechLaw is uniquely qualified to assist EPA in this important work, given our long-standing PFAS technical experience at similar facilities,” says TechLaw Chief Operating Officer Patricia Derocher. “The mission to investigate and remediate PFAS contamination is a critical one for EPA, and we look forward to continuing our support.”

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances—more commonly known as PFAS—are long-lasting chemicals that have been widely used in numerous household and commercial products for decades. Recent scientific studies have shown that exposure to some PFAS in the environment may be linked to harmful health effects in humans and animals. PFAS contamination has been increasingly found in public drinking water supplies and other locales nationwide.

Under the direction of President Biden, EPA Administrator Michael Regan has launched a series of initiatives designed to expand PFAS cleanup efforts, such as those that are occurring at Federal Facilities nationwide.

TechLaw is currently the leading environmental contractor under the EPA ESO contract by dollar volume, with the company securing 28 awards worth more than $45 million over the last three years. TechLaw’s work under ESO spans all 10 EPA regions.
